So what is the story behind Oldfields? Below is a timeline of our history, and how throughout our 30+ years our story has changed along the way. We hope you find it as interesting as we do…
1991
Where it all began! Paul & Cheryl Benson took the step into running their own business, by taking over the lease at our former site on Green Lane, Leominster.
2000
As time went on the business workshop continued to expand as our reputation grew, however the petrol side of the business became more challenging, especially with the supermarkets entering into the fuel sales market. We continued to provide a "good old fashioned" attended fuel service to our loyal customers.
2008
In June 2008, Tim (Paul & Cheryl's eldest son) re-joined the Oldfields team to look after the customer service & forecourt shop. We continued to sell fuel to account and regular customers until 2009 and were the last attended fuel filling station in Herefordshire.
2009
Our final hurrah at the old garage site was being shortlisted in the Motorcodes UK Top 50 Golden Garages. We have continued to be named in the UK Top 50 independent garage list every year 2009-2013.
2010
In early 2010 we spent time preparing and planning for a pretty major move to our current location, opening the new doors in March 2010. The new site meant we could now carry out MOTs ourselves, Air Conditioning Service as well as Servicing & Repairs at a purpose designed site.
2014
After 3 years of being named as Midlands regional finalists, we finally made it through to the "UK Top 3" of the Unipart Car Care Centre of the Year. The competition which scoured the whole of the UK for great garages was made up of 6 regions that were vetted and shortlisted through the the final few. In April 2014 we were announced as Winners! The best Unipart Car Care Centre in the in UK - a great achievement for all of our team!
2018
We were delighted to make the final shortlist in the "Best Customer Service" category of the "Herefordshire Business Awards." After the team attended a glitzy night in Hereford, we were beaten by another great Herefordshire business.
2020
Ten years on the Enterprise Park! Who would have thought the last 10 years would go so quickly? It all went a bit unnoticed, due to the Covid-19 global pandemic.
2020
Despite Covid-19 we were fortunate to be able to largely carry on trading and continued to invest in our business. We implemented a new business management system and started our journey to become part of the UKs leading network of Diesel Particulate Filter specialists. In July 2020 we became accredited members of The DPF Doctor Network with exclusive licence for Leominster.
2021
As the Covid situation was becoming more manageable, we took the opportunity to refresh our customer facilities as part of a complete refurbishment of our customer reception area.
2022
We were delighted to have been awarded "Best Independent Garage Specialists" for Herefordshire for 2022. A great achievement for the team.
2022
We finished runner up in "Top Garage 2022," which is one of the UK's most prestigious garage awards. Competing against garages throughout the whole of the UK, we were really proud to have made the final.
2023
We finished runner up in the IAAF Garage of the Year Awards for 2023. Still not quite picked up the big one, but staying close.
2023
