About Oldfields

Oldfields Garage is located in the market town of Leominster and has been trading as an independent auto repair garage since 1991. Having built our reputation on being a professional, local, family-run business through offering high quality MOT testing, servicing, car diagnostics and repairs, we believe that our longevity in business is because our focus on a few key areas:

Customer service - Excellent Customer Service is one of the things that sets us apart from other garages and in the unlikely event that something doesn’t meet the high standards we set for ourselves we aim to move swiftly to resolve issues. We also subscribe to the Motor Industry Code of Practice, a Trading Standards Institute Approved Code.

Quality - Along with a focus on customer service we try very hard to ensure the quality of our workmanship is of the highest standards. We also work closely with our suppliers to make sure parts we fit to our customer vehicles are high quality and covered by a strong warranty of high quality. In most cases we use original equipment matching quality. 

Our Expertise - We invest in training and development for our staff so we stay up to date with the latest vehicle advances. Our trained and qualified workshop team have a wealth of experience in vehicle maintenance, diagnostics and repairs, so you know your vehicle is in safe hands! As vehicles have become more advanced, we have invested in training and diagnostics equipment to enable us to continue to provide an all round service for nearly all makes and models of vehicles. Our workshop team comprises of 4 qualified mechanics; Paul, Kevin, Sam and Stuart and Ben our apprentice. Our customer service and administration team is made up of Tim, Arnas & Cheryl. 

Specialist Tooling & Technology - Investing in diagnostic equipment, technical information and support and specialist tools helps to ensure we are efficient in carrying out work on customer vehicles.

Warranty - We provide a minimum 12,000 miles, 12 month warranty on any parts we supply and fit.

Customer Feedback - We are delighted to receive very positive feedback and it’s essential in us continuing to provide a high quality service. Thanks to the support and recognition from our customers we have been shortlisted as one of the Motor Industry Code of Practice (Motorcodes) Top 50 best Garages in the UK, for 2010-2013. We are very proud to say that we are the only Garage in Herefordshire to have ever made the Motorcodes UK Top 50 Garages! In 2014/15 we were awarded the Unipart Care Centre of the Year. Our facilities - Having moved to our current premises in March 2010, we are able to offer modern and welcoming facilities for our customers. Set on the towns Enterprise Park, we now have plenty of parking available, which makes it easier when dropping or collecting your vehicle. We have spent a lot of time and effort trying to make sure we are able to do the "extra little things" that really make a difference to our customers. Our reception and waiting area is safe, warm and clean, with full visibility of the workshop area both for MOT testing and our ramps. We have a small carefully chosen selection of items that are likely to be useful, such as top up oils for nearly all types of vehicle, wiper blades, screen wash. 

A little bit of our history... Paul & Cheryl Benson took the step into running their own business, by taking over the lease at our former site on Green Lane, Leominster. The old site started off predominantly being a busy local petrol station from which the team provided a personalised attended forecourt service and had a small workshop. Paul, a qualified mechanic who previously worked at Pinsley Garage and for Roger Moran steadily built the Garage repair side of the business, based on an ethos of quality repairs - and word spread!

As time went on the workshop continued to expand, however the petrol side of the business became more challenging, especially with the supermarkets entering into the fuel sales market. In June 2008, Tim (Paul & Cheryl's eldest son) re-joined the Oldfields team to look after the customer service & forecourt shop.

Several local small petrol stations closed over the years, but we continued to sell fuel, predominantly to account a regular customers until 2009 and were the last attended fuel filling station in Herefordshire. Stopping selling fuel was a difficult decision, but doing so enable us to concentrate our efforts on the garage repair side of the business.
2009 and early 2010 we spent preparing and planning for our move to our current location, which we moved into in March 2010.

Our final hurrah at the old garage site was being shortlisted in the Motorcodes UK Top 50 Golden Garages (as the competition was then know), the announcement coinciding with our move. The new site meant we could carry out MOTs, Air Conditioning, Servicing & Repairs at a purpose designed site, which could provide a platform to continue to expand and develop the business. We have continued to be named in the UK Top 50 independent garage list every year 2010-2013, which we are delighted with because it is customer votes and feedback that are some of the main determining factors for the competition. IN 2013 the criteria changed and relied heavily on number of votes, which makes it more difficult for smaller town garages. 

We continue to focus on our core values of quality workmanship and excellent customer service and in 2014 we made it through to the final 3 of the Unipart Car Care Centre of the Year (after 3 years of making through to the regional finals) and in April 2014 we were announced as Winners!
